Norwegian citizenship for Nordic citizens by application

Citizens from Denmark, Iceland, Finland and Sweden can apply for Norwegian citizenship after two years residence in Norway.
 

 



Requirements to obtain Norwegian citizenship

The requirements to obtain Norwegian citizenship are that you:

  • are above the age of 12
  • have lived in Norway the past two years and will continue to live here
  • have clarified your identity
  • have not been convicted of a criminal offence or been ordered to undergo enforced psychiatric health treatment or enforced psychiatric care

How do I apply for Norwegian citizenship?

In order to apply for Norwegian citizenship you need to submit an application form and enclose all necessary documents to the police.

You also have to pay an application fee.
