Reception centres

People who apply for protection in Norway are offered accommodation in asylum reception centres. We have different types of reception centres all over Norway: transit reception centres, ordinary reception centres, high-security units and units for unaccompanied minor asylum seekers aged between 15 and 18. What sort of reception centre asylum seekers are offered depends on which stage of the application process they are in and whether they have special needs. The Child Welfare Service is responsible for unaccompanied minor asylum seekers under 15 years of age. The accommodation provided by the Child Welfare Service is called care centres.
