Iraq: IRRINI

IRRINI (Information, Return and Reintegration of Iraqi Nationals to Iraq Programme) is a programme for voluntary assisted  return and repatriation to Iraq.

Who can participate in IRRINI

IRRINI is a return and reintegration program for asylum seekers, persons whose application for residence has been rejected and persons without legal residence in Norway who wish to return voluntarily to Iraq, and persons with residence permits who wish to return to Iraq.
Through IRRINI, the IOM offers individual information and advice, help to obtain travel documents, to organise the return journey, airline tickets and transit visas, and assistance during transit and on arrival in Iraq.

Reintegration support

Programme participants are eligible to receive a cash sum  and individual advice and reintegration support, such as help to find a job, training and financial support, support to set up a business, and support for schooling and education.

Persons who hold residence permits
Persons who hold a residence permit in Norway who return to Iraq will receive a cash sum of NOK 15,000 (repatriation support) per person.
The programme also offers reintegration support of up to NOK 25,000 per person in the form of help to find a job, training and financial support, support to set up a business, and support for schooling and education. For Iraqis who return to the Kurdish area of Iraq, Business Innovation Programmes (BIP) can provide training in setting up a business.  Read more about BIP on its website.

Persons without a residence permit in Norway
Persons without a residence permit in Norway who return voluntarily to Iraq will receive a cash sum  of NOK 10,000 per person.

The programme also offers reintegration support of up to NOK 25,000 per person in the form of help to find a job, training and financial support, support to set up a business, and support for schooling and education.

For Iraqis who return to the Kurdish area of Iraq, Business Innovation Programmes (BIP) can provide training in setting up a business. Read more about BIP on its website.

Housing support
You can also apply for housing support through the IOM after arrival in Iraq. The housing support will be up to NOK 20,000 per household. The support scheme is offered to a limited number of returnees who face particular difficulty in re-settling due to housing problems. The scheme will be means-tested, following an assessment by the IOM in Iraq.
