- We processed close to 3000 more cases than expected in 2006, but because the number of cases received were significantly higher than budgeted, the year ended with more cases waiting to be processed says UDI-direktor Ida Børresen.

- In 2006 there was a particular increase in applications for work permts and citizenship.

The 25 000 cases waiting to be processed covers any types of cases, among others applications for citizenship (8000 cases) and family immigration (7000 cases)

Case-processing time

All applications that are sent to UDI are processed individually. This implies that UDI is dependent on documentation from individual applicants in order to be able to make a decison. Due to the increase in the number of cases waiting to be processed, the case-processing time at UDI in 2007 will be longer than what it has been in the past. The applicants can contribute to a quicker and more smoother case processing by submitting all the required (neccessary) documents together with the application.

- The case processing time will always depend on the number of cases received and how well documented they are. When UDI has received all the information we need, then could  the case be processed relativley fast, but when we have to make more inquiries then it takes longer time, says direktor Børresen
