The purpose of this agreement is to facilitate, on the basis of reciprocity, the procedures for issuing visas for an intended stay of no more than 90 days per period of 180 days. The agreement applies to all Russian citizens regardless of where they choose to submit the visa application.

The agreement establishes, on the basis of reciprocity, legally binding rules regarding the documents required to justify the purpose of the journey and the possibility to apply for a multiple visa for certain categories of persons, the case handling time and the fee.

The general requirement of personal appearance for the submission of the visa application and supporting documents will remain unaffected.

When applying for a visa the applicant will have to present a travel document valid for more than three months after the applicant has returned to his/her home country, document sufficient means of subsistence, and a valid travel insurance with a minimum coverage of 30 000 €.
