The UDI will process applications from asylum seekers from Syria
The asylum applications will now start to be processed continuously. We are aware that asylum seekers from Syria have been in a difficult situation, living in reception centers in suspense for a long time.
Asylum seekers from Syria who came before 2011, and particularly vulnerable asylum seekers, will get their application processed first.
Because of the turbulent and unpredictable situation in Syria in spring 2011, the UDI decided to stop processing asylum applications from Syria. The UDI will now process each application individually.
Asylum seekers with a final rejection are still not obligated to return to Syria. This means that the police until further notice will not return them to Syria by force.
