The information is also handed out to all applicants of family reunification at the Foreign Service Missions.
This information is required as some women, after reunification with Norwegian men, experience considerable difficulties participating in Norwegian society. The level of knowledge regarding Norwegian rules is extremely low. In addition, we are aware that some women experience both violence and sexual abuse subsequent to reunification.
The Directorate believes that men and children applying for reunification in Norway also need to be informed of their rights, some men can also experience forced marriages. The text is therefore also relevant for men and children.
