Corona-related work in the health and care sector

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security has adopted a scheme where you can be exempted from restrictions on the right to work in Norway if you perform work in the health and care sector related to the corona situation.

Published: 08.12.2020

The exception applies from 7 December 2020 to 31 May 2021.

You can work without the restrictions that apply to your residence permit or without having a residence permit if:

  • You have legal residence in Norway
  • You are an authorised healthcare professional
  • You will work in the health and care sector (this does not include pharmacies)
  • The work is corona related
  • Your salary and working conditions are in accordance with the current collective agreement in the health and care sector
  • The work will take place in the period from 7 December 2020 to 31 May 2021

You do not need approval from the UDI before you start working if the above requirements are met.

Take care of the employment contract and other documents that show that you are within the scheme. Present these when applying to renew your residence permit, for a permanent residence permit or when leaving Norway.
