Norwegian authorities recognise some Somali passports from 1 August 2018

The Government has decided that Norwegian authorities will recognise some Somali passports as travel documents from 1 August 2018.

Published: 25.07.2018

The passports that will be recognised are ordinary Somali passports issued either at Somali embassies or in the Benadir region after 1 January 2014.

If you have such a passport, you can use it for entry to Norway from 1 August if you have also received a visa valid for entry into the Schengen area.

The UDI is working on what the recognition of Somali passports has to say for Somali citizens who are going to apply for residence permits in Norway or who reside in Norway with a permit.
