Right to appeal decisions on assisted return

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security has instructed the Directorate of Immigration (UDI) to process applications for assisted return as individual decisions, in accordance with the Public Administration Act of 1967.

Published: 12.10.2017

This means that if you do not agree with the decision on assisted return, you can appeal the decision. The UDI will then reconsider your case.

The appeal must be delivered directly to the UDI. When you appeal, you must explain why you think the first decision you received was incorrect. You should also provide any new information or documents.

If the UDI does not grant your appeal, we will forward it to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security for consideration.

Please send the appeal to:

UDI Returenheten - VARP
Postboks 2098 Vika
NO-0125 Oslo

You must still leave Norway within the deadline you have been given. If your deadline has expired, you do not have the right to remain in Norway while your appeal is processed. If you leave Norway while your appeal is being processed, please send us an email at Varp-klage@udi.no with your contact information, so that we can get in touch with you.
