How to apply

Print out the checklist and gather the necessary documents

Checklist which shows what you must bring to your appointment with the police:

signed cover letter
valid passport
if you have had another passport in the last four years: your old passport
your old residence card (if you have it)
if you have changed your name: documentation of the name change

Fill in your application

Go to the order form

Hand in the application and documents in person

Remember to order your residence card in plenty of time

Please remember to order your residence card in good time before the old one expires, and well ahead of time before you travel abroad.

The waiting time to get an appointment with the police can be very long. You must register the application online and book an appointment with the police at least three months before your residence permit expires. After you have attended your appointment with the police, it will take at least 20 working days until you receive the residence card by post.

Please remember that your name must be on your letter box. If not, the card will not be delivered to you.
