Deadline for leaving the country

If you are in Norway and your application for a residence permit has been rejected, you have been given a deadline for leaving the country.
  • The deadline for leaving will be stated in the letter you received from UDI.
  • You must either travel out of Norway or the entire Schengen area. This is specified in the letter from UDI.
  • If you have to leave the Schengen area, information about the obligation to leave will be registered in SIS and will be registered in SIS as long as you have an obligation to leave.
  • You must register your departure from Norway and/or the Schengen area.
  • If you do not leave by the deadline, the police can deport you, and you can be subject to a prohibition against entry.
  • Some people, for example asylum seekers whose applications have been rejected, can apply for support to return to their home country
  • If you appeal the decision in your case, the deadline for leaving may be postponed.
