What are the regulations for nationals of visa-free countries ?
Even if you do not need a visa to visit Norway, you must follow these regulations.
If you are exempted from the visa requirement to Norway, you may stay inside the Schengen area for up to 90 days during any period of six months.
Your stay can be for 90 consecutive days, or divided into several stays.
The six-month period starts on the day of your first entry into the Schengen area. A new six-month period starts immediately after the expiry of the previous one, thereby allowing you another stay in the Schengen area of up to 90 days.
However, although your stay will stretch from one six-month period to the next, you may never stay inside the Schengen area for more than 90 days each time. It is your own responsibility to make sure that you are not in breach of this requirement.
There are also requirements for nationals who are not subject to the visa requirement:
- You must have the finances to be able to cover your stay in Norway. As a rule, you are required to have NOK 500 for each day of your stay in Norway. The amount is slightly less if you are going to stay with family or friends.
- You must be able to return to your home country, or to the country in which you have a residence permit.
