How to employ foreign workers

On this page, you will find information about how you as an employer proceed to hire foreign workers.

If you have a written authorisation from your employee, you as an employer can submit an application for a residence permit on his/her behalf to the police district in which your business is located or to one of the service centre for foreign workers.

If your employee is an EEA national and wish to stay in Norway for more than three months, the person must register with the police. As an employer you cannot do the registration on behalf of the employee. Learn more about the registration requirement for EEA nationals.
