Return and repatriation
The Directorate of Immigration (UDI) has support schemes that apply if you do not have legal residence in Norway, have an application for protection under consideration or you have received a rejection of your application for a residence permit and must return to your home country (return). Support schemes are also available if you hold a valid residence permit but wish to return to your home country (repatriation).
The organisation IOM handles applications on behalf of the UDI.
- Voluntary assisted return
If you have received a final rejection of your application for protection and you have no other grounds for residence in Norway, you must leave the country.
If you do not return voluntarily, you can be escorted out of the country by the police when the deadline for departure has expired.
If you leave voluntarily, you are eligible for financial as well as practical assistance in connection with your return.
