Can I change my place of employmenters?
If you have a residence permit as a skilled worker with an employer in Norway, and you are going to change employers at some point, you do not need to apply for a new residence permit IF your new job involves the same type of position. However, the pay and working conditions must not be inferior to what is normal in Norway, and you must continue to meet the requirements for your residence permit as a skilled worker with an employer in Norway.
If you have a residence permit as a skilled worker with an employer in Norway and you are going to start in a new type of position at a later point in time, you must apply for a new residence permit, whether your new job is with the same employer or not. You cannot start in a new type of position until you have been granted a new residence permit.
If you have a residence permit as a posted employee (employee of a company abroad on assignment in Norway or an employee of a international company on assignment for the Norwegian branch of the company) and you are going to carry out assignments other than those set out in your contract or for another enterprise, you must apply for a new residence permit.
