Access to personal data
You may apply to UDI for access to personal data about you registered with UDI.
You have the right to access the following:
- the specific personal data we process about you,
- where these data are collected from,
- what purposes the data are used for, and
- whether your data has been passed on and who the recipient was.
It is usually free to request access to your personal data.
Information about how UDI processes your data is available in our privacy declaration.
- Access to the information we have from your applications
You can view any information you have provided in your applications by logging in (external website). Once logged in, you will see a list of your applications. Click on the Go to application button to the right of the application you wish to view. You will then be able to download the application you filled out as a pdf file.
Unable to find the application you are looking for?
Try to log in both with a Norwegian electronic ID (ID-porten) and with your e-mail address and password.
Applications for protection (asylum) and applications that were submitted on paper are not displayed on the page.
- Personal data registered in the Visa Information System (VIS)
You will find more information about VIS and instructions for how to apply for access to personal data registered in VIS here.
- Request access to all personal data registered with UDI
UDI is responsible for a number of registers where personal data is stored. If you fill out the form below, you will gain access to the information we have about you in:- The database of foreign nationals (UDB). UDB is the immigration authorities’ central register for personal information. All information in connection with cases regarding immigration or citizenship are registered and stored in UDB. Foreign citizens who are registered there are issued a unique identifier number (DUF number). Some Norwegian citizens are also registered in UDB.
- The Register of Foreign Nationals (Utlendingsregisteret) is a register of biometric data containing fingerprints and facial photographs of people from countries outside the EU and EEA area (see Section 100 of the Immigration Act).
To submit your request:
- upload valid identification so that we can process your request for access to personal data.
- Log in (external website, opens in new window), read and accept the terms of use and click on 'Continue'.
- Fill in the fields in the form. For 'Case type' select Request for access to personal data. When all the fields have been filled in, you can click on 'Continue'.
- Upload document. Select the document type Ordinary passport and upload a copy of one of the following:
- Passport (not including emergency passport)
- Norwegian bank card with photo
- Norwegian driving licence – original and duplicate (not including those issued before 1 April 1979 [green licence])
- Nordic driving licence – EU/EEA standard
- Ministry of Defence ID card (from 2004)
- Norwegian Post Office ID card issued after 1 October 1994
- National ID card issued within the EEA
- Card for asylum seeker with signature and place of birth in addition
- Norwegian refugee travel document (green passport)
- Norwegian immigrant's passport (blue passport)
- fill out the below form.
The usual response time is 30 days.
