I am a man aged 18–60. Can I be granted collective protection?
From 5 May, you can no longer be granted collective protection if you are a man aged 18–60. If you apply for protection in Norway, your application will be assessed under the rules for individual protection. The requirements for being granted protection on an individual basis are significantly higher than for collective protection.
Some men may still be granted collective protection.
This applies if you:
- have parental responsibility or are a legal guardian, and will have sole day-to-day care of a child who is arriving with you or is already in Norway.
- You must provide original documents, in paper form or via an app, issued by public authorities in Ukraine. You must also provide written documentation from the other parent confirming that you will have sole parental responsibility, as well as a copy of that parent’s foreign or internal passport. Where this is not possible, you must clearly demonstrate that you have sole day-to-day care.
- are exempt from, or clearly unable to perform, military service in Ukraine.
- You must provide original documents, in paper form or via an app, showing that you are individually and permanently exempt from all forms of military service in Ukraine.
- have been offered medical evacuation to Norway through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM), or are an accompanying family member of such a person.
