I have had collective protection for close to 3 years. What happens when 3 years have passed?

It is now possible to be granted collective protection for up to four years, provided that the requirements for the permit are still met. Even if you are from an area that the Norwegian authorities now define as safe, you can still have your permit extended if you have already been granted collective protection.

The government is continuing the scheme of temporary collective protection for displaced persons from Ukraine, and people who have had such a permit for three years can now have it extended for a fourth year.

The collective protection scheme allows for a fourth extension. The government must decide whether this should apply a fourth time, and this will happen no earlier than 2026.
