What if I travel to my home country with an immigrant's passport?

If your immigrant's passport is not valid for journeys to your home country

  • You risk being stopped at the border and denied entry.
  • If UDI is notified that you have used your immigrant's passport in your home country, you will normally not be issued a new one. This is because the Norwegian authorities believe that if you visit your home country, it should also be possible for you to obtain a passport from this country.

If your travel document is valid for journeys to all countries

  • If your immigrant's passport is valid for journeys to all countries, you can also use it to visit your home country. You must always check whether the country you plan to visit will accept your immigrant's passport.
