What kind of support can you be given?

  • health checks and necessary vaccinations
  • help to plan your journey
  • a financial grant of up to NOK 20 000 in cash
  • a financial grant of NOK 22 000, in services for example for housing, education, starting a business, work training, medication, food and clothes.
  • NOK 10 000 in cash to caregivers, if they collaborate on the return
  • The support will be paid into a Ukrainian bank account belonging to your caregiver.
  • The payment will be made only after you have returned to Ukraine. It may take 1–2 weeks before the money is credited to the account.

What will happen when you travel?

The police will organise and facilitate the return. The police will accompany you on the journey and ensure safe transport to the border via Poland. At the border, a caregiver from Ukraine must meet you.

What do you need to do to apply?

  • You must create a user account and complete UDI’s application form for assisted return.
  • The asylum reception centre where you live or UDI’s regional office can help you apply.
  • You must sign a power of attorney. The power of attorney will be sent to you after you have applied, and the police will follow this up.
  • The power of attorney must include information about who is the responsible caregiver in Ukraine, as well as bank details for the payment of support.

If your application for assisted return is rejected

  • If you disagree with the decision from UDI, you can write an appeal. When you appeal, you should explain why the decision is wrong. You should also submit any new information or new documents, if applicable.

  • If UDI does not reverse its decision after considering your appeal, it will be assessed again by the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
  • You still have the obligation to leave Norway. If your deadline for departing Norway has passed, you do not have the right to stay in Norway while your appeal is being processed.
