How to apply

Print out the checklist and gather the necessary documents

Fill in your application

Give fingerprints and hand in the application and documents in person

When handing in your documents from the checklist, please go to one of the VFS Visa Application Centres located in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Murmansk or Arkhangelsk (external website, opens in new window).

If you are applying for a local border traffic permit, you must submit your application to the Consulate General in Murmansk.

You can also go to the Consulate of Lithuania in Kaliningrad (external website, opens in new window), which represents Norway. At this consulate you must use the form  Application for Schengen Visa (pdf, 282 kB) instead of applying online.

Remember

  • You can hand in your application documents at the Visa Application Centre, embassy or consulate no earlier than six months before you are going to travel.
  • If you plan to travel in and out of Schengen, you must state in the application form that you want several entries. It is particularly important for seafarers to remember this.
  • If you plan to visit several Schengen countries in the course of one trip, you must submit your application to the embassy or consulate of the country that is your main destination.
  • You cannot work, including remote work, while you are visiting Norway on a visitor visa.
  • You cannot get a visitor visa to apply for a residence permit in Norway.
