How long can I have collective protection?
If you applied for collective protection before 5 May 2026, you can have your permit extended.
If you applied after 5 May 2026 and were granted collective protection because you have permanent exemption from military service, you can have your permit extended.
If you applied after 5 May 2026 and were granted collective protection because you have sole custody of a child, you can have your permit extended if you will still have sole custody of the child in Norway. You can get an extension even if the child turns 18 while you are in Norway. If the child's other parent comes to Norway, we will revoke your permit and it will not be extended.
