I have been granted family immigration with a family member with refugee status. Can I be given refugee status and a refugee travel document?
If you were granted family immigration with a family member who has refugee status in Norway, you can apply for refugee status as well. This is also referred to as derived refugee status.
Derived refugee status can only be granted to a spouse, cohabitant or child (under the age of 18) of the person in Norway. If you are a spouse or cohabitant, the family relationship must have been established before the person in Norway left their home country.
If you are granted refugee status, you can also be issued a refugee travel document like your family member.
