• You will be assigned a lawyer by UDI, and you can appeal the decision. The lawyer will explain the decision and help you with the appeal.
• You can also get advice from organisations that offer free legal aid, such as Norwegian Organisation for Asylum Seekers (NOAS) (external website), Self Help for Immigrants and Refugees (SEIF) (external website), Legal counselling for women (JURK) (external website), and Jussbuss (external website).
• UDI will consider your appeal. If UDI does not reverse its decision, it will send the case to the Immigration Appeals Board (UNE), (external website).
• Once your case has been sent to UNE, UNE will be responsible for your case, and you must contact UNE (external website) if you have new documents or information.
• You can normally stay in Norway while UNE is considering your appeal. This is called 'deferred implementation' of a decision. If you have not been granted deferred implementation, you must leave Norway before UNE has considered your appeal. If you do not return to your home country of your own accord, the police can send you back.
• If you apply for asylum in another Dublin country, that country can request that you be sent back to Norway. When you return to Norway, your asylum application will not be reconsidered. The rejection you have received will still apply and you have to return to your home country. If you do not return to your home country of your own accord, the police can send you back.
• You can be granted financial support and help for assisted return by  UDI and IOM. 

• You must go back to your home country within the deadline set by UNE. If you are in Norway after the deadline has expired, then you are staying illegally in Norway.
• If you are staying at an asylum reception centre, you will be paid less money than before.
• You cannot apply for another type of residence permit, for example for family immigration or work. If you want to apply on these grounds, you must do so from your home country.
• You will lose your right to health care and medical assistance.
• If you have a temporary work permit as an asylum seeker, you will now lose it.
• UDI cannot change UNE's decisions. The rejection you have received from UNE is final, and your case has been concluded. If you have questions about the decision you have received from UNE, you can contact your lawyer or contact UNE (external website).
• You can be granted financial support and help for assisted return by UDI and IOM. It is important that you apply before the deadline expires. If you do, you will receive more support than if you apply after the deadline.
• If you apply for asylum in another Dublin country, that country can request that you be sent back to Norway. When you return to Norway, your application for asylum will not be reconsidered. The rejection you have received will still apply and you have to return to your home country. If you do not return to your home country of your own accord, the police can send you back.

If you do not leave Norway, then you are staying illegally in Norway.  This means that:

• You will be deported by the police.
• You will be expelled from Norway and other Schengen countries for a period of 1–5 years. During this period, you cannot travel to Norway or other Schengen countries.
• You cannot return to Norway until you have paid the costs of your deportation.

You must return to your home country when your application for protection has been rejected. If it does take some time before you leave Norway, you must make sure that you let the police know where you live.

• If you move to a new address, you must tell the local police. Either the police where you are moving to, or where you lived before. You may send them an e-mail orletter. Go to contact information for the police.
