For Iranian nationals who have received a final rejection of their application for residence in Norway, the duty to return is temporarily suspended.

From 22 January 2026, UDI and UNE will lift the suspension of the duty to return to Syria. This decision means that persons with a final decision requiring them to return to Syria must leave Norway. The police may also carry out forced returns to Syria.

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security decided today not to extend the suspension of the processing of asylum applications from Syrian nationals. This means that UDI will begin processing asylum applications from Syria again next year.

UDI gir tilskot på til saman 1 million kroner til tiltak for å informere personar utan lovleg opphald om assistert retur. Tiltaket må vere retta mot personar som oppheld seg utanfor asylmottak.

I 2025 mottok UDI 141 søknader og delte ut midler på 16 381 000 kroner for å gi barn i asylmottak en mer meningsfull hverdag gjennom aktivitetstilbud.

UDI gir tilskudd til aktivitetstilbud for barn i asylmottak. Tilskudd kan gis til enkeltpersoner, frivillige organisasjoner registrert i frivillighetsregisteret eller andre ikke-fortjenestebaserte virksomheter.

De siste ukene har det vært en økning i ukrainere som kommer til Norge og som søker beskyttelse. For å møte behovet øker UDI kapasiteten med 750 tilleggsplasser, derav 150 plasser umiddelbart.

The Immigration Appeals Board (UNE) has decided to lift the suspension of the duty to leave to Gaza, as it no longer has any practical significance. The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) supports UNE’s decision.

From 1 May 2025, the Directorate of Immigration (UDI) and the Immigration Appeals Board (UNE) will lift the suspension of the duty to return to Lebanon and will resume the processing of Lebanon cases.
