Why can the waiting time change?
The waiting time may become longer:
- In some applications, UDI needs to carry out additional checks.
- In some cases, we need to ask you for more information. If UDI needs additional information or documents from you, we will contact you.
- If you do not already have a permanent residence permit when you apply for citizenship, your application will not be processed automatically. You can find information here about applying for citizenship without a permanent residence permit.
The waiting time may become shorter:
- All applications for Norwegian citizenship are processed fully or partly automatically. If our system is able to process your application automatically, you may receive a faster decision.
- You cannot request that your application be processed automatically. You can read more about automatic processing of applications here.
