1) You must fill in a guarantee form for visits (pdf, 930 kB).
2) You must bring the completed form with you to the police to have it stamped. There you must present:
3) You must send the original completed form to the person who is going to visit you. Once you have sent the form to him or her, you have committed to being the guarantor and you cannot change your mind.
4) The person who is going to visit you must complete the last part of the form and submit it together with his/her other application documents at the embassy or the application centre.
As explained above, the police must stamp the form.
When the police stamps the form here in Norway, they confirm to the embassy, which will consider the application, that they have seen your documentation that you have enough funds to provide a financial guarantee for the person who is going to visit you in Norway.
We use the guarantee form so that you do not have to send your income and tax information by post to other parts of the world.
Please note: You therefore only need to send the completed and stamped guarantee form to the person who is going to visit you, not documentation of your income.
You must cover the food and accommodation expenses of the person visiting you while he or she is in Norway.
You must also cover the state's expenses if the person who is visiting you does not leave Norway once his/her visa expires and the police must transport him or her out of the country.
Providing a financial guarantee is not the same as guaranteeing that the person visiting you will leave Norway once the visit is over. As the person receiving the visit, you cannot provide this type of guarantee. The UDI will assess whether it is likely that the person who has applied for a visa will return once the visit is over, based on the extent of his/her ties to his/her home country.
You must live in Norway.
You must have sufficient income to cover expenses for food, accommodation and the return journey for the person visiting you. There is no set sum of money that is considered ‘sufficient income’.
