Information for those who have applied for permanent right of residence
Applications which are processed by the police
Most applications for permanent right of residence are processed by the police. You can find information about their waiting times on the police website (external website).
If the police cannot process your application themselves, they will send it to the UDI. If the police send your application to the UDI you will be notified by email or SMS.
Applications which are processed by the UDI
From week 23 through week 26, we will not prioritise applications for permanent residence cards and permanent residence certificates. We will process other types of applications.
Due to the summer holiday period, we will not be processing applications from week 27 through week 32.
We update the information on this page once a month. How long you have to wait may therefore change.
Information for you who have received a rejection and have appealed
Within 3 months of the UDI or the police receiving your appeal, we will either reverse the decision and grant you a permanent residence permit or send your case to the Immigration Appeals Board for consideration of the appeal.
If we forward your appeal to UNE, you will be notified by email or SMS. You can find information on UNE’s website about how long it takes from UNE receives your appeal, until you receive an answer from them (external website).
