Guide to waiting time for au pair permits

Information about how long you have to wait for an answer to your application for an au pair permit.

The information on this page is personalised for

What type of application have you submitted?:

Appeal (after my application was rejected)

Information for those of you who have appealed after your application was rejected

5 months after UDI or the police receives your appeal, we will either grant your appeal and give you an au pair permit, or forward your case to the Immigration Appeals Board (UNE) for consideration.

Your anticipated waiting time could change. In such case, your revised waiting time is what applies, even if you have been told a different waiting time previously.

We update the information on this page once a month.

If we forward your appeal to UNE, you will be notified by email or SMS. You can find information on UNE’s website about how long it takes from the time UNE receives your appeal until you receive an answer from them (external website).
