Do I need a sponsor?

You must have enough money to finance your stay in Norway and your return journey. You must be able to document that you have sufficient means to support yourself during your stay in Norway and the Schengen area. If you can document this, you do not need a sponsorship form. This may be documented by presenting bank statements.

Whether your funds are considered sufficient will be assessed individually in each case. The following amounts serve as general guidelines for what is regarded as a sufficient minimum:

• NOK 300 per day is regarded as a sufficient minimum if you will be staying with family or friends, or in accommodation that has been booked and paid for in advance.
• NOK 1,300 per day is regarded as sufficient if you have not documented pre-booked or pre-paid accommodation for the entire duration of your stay. If several people are travelling together, the amount should be at least NOK 1,000 per person per day.

There are no advantages to providing a sponsorship form if you have enough money. On the contrary, including unnecessary documentation with your application will make it take longer to process your application because we will have more documentation to review.
