With permanent right of residence, you can reside and work in Norway indefinitely if you are an EU/EEA national or a family member of an EU/EEA national. You also have extra protection against expulsion.
If a person is granted a residence permit in Norway because of strong humanitarian considerations or because he or she has a special connection with Norway, this is called a residence permit on humanitarian grounds.
When we have processed your application, you will be notified whether you have been granted a permanent residence permit or application to stay outside Norway for a long period of time, or if your application has been rejected.
If you are an EU / EEA national you have the right to live, work and study in Norway.
Depending on where you are from, family members of an EU / EEA national can either apply for a residence card or use the registration scheme.
