If your refugee travel document or immigrant's passport will soon expire, you can apply for renewal.
Important information for those who wish to renew their travel document
- Please note that you must have a valid residence permit in order to be issued a travel document.
- If you hold a temporary residence permit as a refugee, your travel document will have the same validity period as your residence permit.
- If you log in to the digital application form using an eID via ID-porten, you can apply to renew your residence permit at the same time as you apply for a new travel document. If you do not have an eID, you can renew your residence permit here.
- If you hold a permanent residence permit, the travel document is valid for five years. Children under the age of 10 are issued travel documents valid for two or three years.
- If you have an immigrant's passport for a single journey, you must now apply for a new immigrant's passport instead of applying for a renewal.
