Who must book an appointment with the police?

Everyone who applies from Norway and has sent an application electronically must also book an appointment electronically by logging in. A few application types submitted with eID (electronic ID) are exempt from the requirement to book an appointment for attendance.

If you are not able to book an appointment electronically, you must contact the police where you live (external website) directly to manually book an appointment.

Some applications can only be filled out on paper. If you have sent a paper application and therefore do not have an electronic case, you must contact the police where you live (external website) directly to book an appointment.

These applications can only be filled in on paper:

• first-time application for protection (asylum)
• residence permit due to strong humanitarian considerations
• residence permit for victims of abuse
• keeping a permanent residence permit (if you are applying from abroad)
• extension of visitor’s visa
