If you are applying for Norwegian citizenship after 1 January 2019, it is now a requirement that you have a passport from Somalia. If you do not already have a Somali passport, you must get one now.

If you are applying to live with a person in Norway who has been granted protection, you can be allowed to do so without any requirements as to this person’s income. But you have to remember to apply in time.

To be granted family immigration, the person living in Norway (the reference person) must generally have an income. As of 1 October 2021, introduction benefits will no longer count as income when UDI assesses the income requirement.
